Method 1

To single-line method

Step 1

Get a line and a hook. Insert the tip of the line through the hook eye and drag to about 6-8 inches, and bend it to the right so it runs parallel to the long-running line, with the shorter one still maintaining a 6- or 8-inches length.

Step 2

Using your left hand, hold both parallel lines near the hook eye and curve your 6inches line holding the end, then place it between your left fingers holding both lines near the hook eye to form a loop with the tag end facing up.

Step 3

Take the tag end, pass it underneath the two lines into the loop you have created, and wrap it around it, repeating the process up to 5 or 7 times.

Make sure your left-hand hold both lines while wrapping to keep them together.

Step 4

After completing the Wraps, pull the tag end with your right hand while the left-hand holds the hook.

Continue pulling on a steady pace till your wraps come holding together. It would be easier to pull together if you lubricate the knot.

Step 5 

Now you have formed a loop between the hook eye and the uni knot.

To get rid of the loop and make the knot sit tight on the hook eye, grab the running line with your right and hold the hook, then begin to pull the knot until it rests tight against the hook eye.

Finally, cut off the excess tag line to get a clean straight uni knot.

Method 2

This second Uni knot method is often referred to as the two lines or double.

Step 1

Get two lines that are of the same length.

Then, run the two ends of the line on each other in a parallel line; both lines overlapping should be about 8 inches long.

Step 2

Grab the middle of the overlapping lines with your left hand.

Then, use your right hand to place the other line tag end facing right on the parallel line just like you did for the single line to form a loop with the tag end facing up.

Then, wrap it around it, repeating the process up to 5 times.

Step 3

Pull the tag end with your right hand while the left holds the other side of both lines. Continue pulling on a steady pace till your wraps come holding together, just like the first method.

Step 4

Hold the tag facing the opposite direction with your left hand and place it on the parallel line just like the one facing the other right direction to form a loop with the tag end facing up.

Wrap it around it, repeating the process as you did with the other side, but the tag end faces left this time. Remember, they should face opposite directions.

Step 5

Pull the tag end with your other hand while the right holds the other side of both lines, and pull until your wraps come holding together like the right side.

Now you have two uni knots tied on one strand.

Step 5

To bring the 2 knots together, hold the main line, not the tag, and pull in opposite directions till they hit each other to form a nice, tightened close-up.

Next, cut the excess tag off, and there you have it, your two lines or double uni knot.

If you are not too good at using your left hand, all you need to do is flip the whole standing line to tie the second knot after tying the knot facing right.
