SGF's Jupiter Ridge Day this month

Submitted by Brett Fitzgerald on October, Oct 3, 2016

SGF exploratory paddle floatilla, free fishing tournament and shoreline clean-up is this coming weekend. You can participate!

SGF and Palm Beach County Environmental Resources Management have developed a new ‘adoption’ partnership at the beautiful Jupiter Ridge Natural Area. This will bring SGF members and volunteers into the fold as the county strives to maintain and improve our coastal habitats. “Citizen involvement is an important step towards ensuring long-term stewardship, and we hope this partnership can be a model for Palm Beach County, SGF, and other municipalities around the country,” said Holly Andreotta, SGF Secretary.

The first volunteer event at Jupiter Ridge will take place on October 23rd, and there will be a full day of interesting things to do. “We’ll start with a basic shoreline and trail clean-up in the morning. Then we are planning a paddle-craft floatilla into the nooks and crannies of the waterways, as well as a short data collecting fishing tournament, which will run through our app iAngler-Tournament,” Andreotta said. The day will end with a short reception at a local watering hole to be determined.

This first event will be limited to 20 volunteers so if you are interested, reserve your spot with Brett Fitzgerald (brett@snookfoundation.org) asap.

Participants can bring canoes, kayaks, or paddleboards but need to coordinate with Brett. There will be some kayaks on site as well.
